There are weeks when the simple act of showing up for yourself feels like climbing a mountain.
This past week has been one of them.
Getting back up and into my chair after 6.5months in bed, has been a real struggle. If you’ve ever experienced those seasons where your body simply refuses to cooperate, you know exactly how frustrating it can be.

I have felt entirely wonky, out of balance, and deeply misaligned. My body and my mind have felt like they are speaking two completely different languages, leaving me searching for a steady center that feels just out of reach.
But as I sat with that frustration this week, a familiar sense of calm washed over me. I realized I’ve been here before. I know this terrain.
The Wisdom of the Wait
Before this week’s hurdle, I spent six and a half months on bedrest.
Back then, time moved differently. When you are confined to a bed for half a year, you cannot force your way through the day. You cannot rush your progress. Bedrest forces you to surrender control, stripping away the urge to sprint forward.

Thankfully, those 6.5 months taught me the profound value of patience. They taught me to take life one single day—sometimes one single breath—at a time.
That time wasn’t wasted; it was an intensive masterclass in listening to my body. And the most important lesson I took away from it is this: I deeply, fiercely believe in my body’s innate ability to heal.
Embracing a New Rhythm
Believing in healing doesn’t mean forcing a breakthrough. True healing requires us to meet ourselves exactly where we are, even when where we are feels heavy or misaligned.
Because I trust my body, I am choosing not to fight the wonkiness. Instead, I am opting for a slower, more steady pace. I am leaning into the discomfort and using it as a blank canvas to create a new routine—one that prioritizes gentle restoration over forced strength.

The anchor of this new routine? The healing power of Qigong.
Moving Energy, Building Strength
For those unfamiliar, Qigong is an ancient practice that combines slow, fluid movements, mindful breathing, and focused intention. It is not about pushing your muscles to the limit; it is about cultivating and balancing your Qi (life energy).
For me right now, Qigong is the perfect bridge. Because it emphasizes internal awareness and can be practiced beautifully from a seated position, it allows me to:
- Realign my posture gently without triggering exhaustion.
- Calm my nervous system when the frustration of the physical struggle creeps in.
- Build sustainable, quiet strength from the inside out.
By integrating these slow, intentional movements into my daily life, I am giving my body the space it needs to recalibrate. I am not rushing the process. I am trusting that this steady, mindful path will help me rebuild my strength and ultimately reach my deepest desires.
One Breath at a Time
If you are currently navigating your own season of physical struggle, misalignment, or frustration, let this be your gentle reminder: you do not have to fix everything today.
Your body is wise. It knows how to mend, but it requires your patience and your partnership to do so. Take a breath, slow down your pace, and trust the power of a gentle routine.
We are taking it one day, one breath, and one mindful movement at a time.
